Late, as in late cartoonists.
I've been late in posting because of some sad events in real life.
I apologize for not posting more frequently. The past two weeks brought some real life events that intruded on the cartoon world including a death, sick friends, sick cats, and my own physical ailments. The only thing I can do for the human sufferers is send artwork. FurBabies drawings were sent to the living. Hand painted landscapes and original photographs—none by me— were sent to the mourners. Thankfully the cats and I recovered with a changed diet. I wish that all problems were solved so easily.
I want to write a post about some upcoming story lines and how I nearly made a serious error. Whenever you do something new, that is not familiar to you, it is vitally important to do your research. IThe story line will start in late May and involves non English speaking characters. I had a friend in another country helping me with accents, dialogue, and slang expressions in his native language. It turned out that when I used Google Translate to put an innocent English diminutive into the new language, I go a gross insult that I thought was a charming nickname for a little girl. It works just fine in English. Some things simply do not work in translation.
I had to rewrite some of the comic scripts, including the one that I am currently working on. This not only removes the real possibility of me offending readers, it makes the strip more entertaining. It’s hard work but it saved me from a potentially compromising situation with the syndicate. They are good to me and I don’t want to seem bad to them.
The Reuben Category award nomineess were announced today. Surprisingly I had to find out about this from the Daily Cartoonist. No announcement was sent to the membership.
It’s impossible for me to log into the NCS site to vote for the category award nominees since it is Wordpress, and atrocious. The deadline is short, and so is my temper.
So I will take time off to decompress. I don’t do yoga, but I do meditate. It helps.

thank you for your understanding, congratulations to the category award nominees, and I will be back soon.
I hope all is better with you and the cats. Thank you for your good work and kindness.
Good to know people still do some things better than AI, including translation!
