My Imaginary Friends: a Zoom chat about my career change from animation to comic strips
Is it a cross dissolve or a fade-out?
I'm presenting a talk on my transition from animation to comic strips for the Great Lakes Chapter of the National Cartoonists Society on August 22 at 7PM E.S.T. on Zoom. #nationalcartoonistssociety #animation #comicstrips #cartoon
A storyboard sketch from an unfinished film, OLD TRICKS. Both characters were redesigned and appear in the FurBabies comic strip.
I’ll post all of the slides here after the presentation. It should be interesting. My talk will be recorded by Jenny Robb of the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum, a place that I’d dearly love to visit.
The National Cartoonists Society has many chapters. I attend both the Southeastern Chapter (which has a splendidly named newsletter, “The Drawling Board” ) and Great Lakes chapter meetings on Zoom, and occasionally join the Berndt Toast Society (Long Island, New York) for their monthly ‘lunches’.
I was just interviewed by a member of the Southeastern Chapter for —wait for it— a ‘zine!’ I will publish it here on September 1, along with a link to Charles Brubaker’s charming and very funny online comic strip.
Sisterhood and Brotherhood and Cartoonhood, right on, right on, right on…
