I love FurBabies! I started reading almost from the debut! am so sorry you are putting our friends aside for I hope a while. Maybe you could consider a patreon or kickstarter like Lex Fajardo has recently set up for Kid Beowulf? Wherever your road takes you please accept my thanks for brightening my day for the past few years!
Thank you Annie. Kid Beowulf is excellent.. I can't have a Patreon site because I am in Canada. Postage rates and the elimination of de minimus shipping make it impossible.
All the comments disappeared on my GoComics page--and have not come back! I always made sure to press "like"--and was always so happily chuffed when the cartoonist herself replied to a comment I'd made--wow! It's like Walt Kelly hisself talkin' to you. I often wondered, really, about how much time it was taking her--that's a lot of work. Thank you! Merci beaucoup! Grazie molto, molto! If only I were rich instead of . .
The FurBabies exist as an antidote to the negativity of the times, and to cheer people up, including me. I need to rest up a bit and wait for them to suggest new story lines. Thank you for your kind remarks and I am glad that you like them.
Nancy, I'm sorry to hear this news. I love FurBabies--it's such a delightful and beautifully drawn and colored comic. I bought your book and gave it 5 stars on Goodreads. Thank you for FurBabies, and I hope to see more of Kate and the gang in the future.
Thank you, Gail, I am happy that you enjoy the comic and the book. I have to take a bit of a break since I saw that I was repeating myself, and I need to think of new story lines. Maybe there will be flashbacks to the summer in the fall months!
Thank you, thank you, thank you, for all your beautiful work, and for your time to write here, on top of your comic strip. I hope your break will be restful and reenergizing for whatever you decide to do-if anything!-when your break is done.
Sorry for not posting in a long time. Gocomics basically locked me out for no reason given off the comments. Basically I'm sad to see (possibly) Fur Babies end, in this world of so much meanness (I won't go into details) there was always a safe place for love and peace and friendship, even if it was in a comic. I'll be buying your book soon (a few turns in life and finances had kept me from making purchases). Is it possible I could request a copy with a handmade picture of Syrius, his ears are like our rescued lab-mix dog and he reminds us so much of our "big puppy" (he's 9 years old and still a big puppy in my opinion). Thank you for all the love and fun and thank you for sharing your talent with us. From a fan in Phoenix.
Thank you. I've had readers with paid subscriptions tell me that they were unable to log in after the March update, and when they did, they were told that FurBabies was no longer on the site. That was corrected quickly. This comments update is hurting strips like Breaking Cat News and LuAnn, which have active commenter communities. It's devastating to Furbabies, which had regular posters and sometimes 100 comments on some strips before the site updated in March. It's now down to fewer than five people. I am not able to mail anyone copies of my book due to insane costs, but if you send me your address (visit my website for the email) I can send you a signed sticker with an original drawing that you can paste inside the cover.
I know how hard it is to attract attention for a comic online, but I hope you continue creating it after your break. Drawing it once or even twice a week on Substack would be a nice alternative to GoComics. Of course, it's really about how you feel and what you want to put your energy towards.
If not FurBabies, I hope we'll see more of your beautiful cartoons in the near future!
Please, if it is possible, draw for Substack. Even one comic per week shall be enough for me. You illustrate a world without cruelties, in fully gay colours. It is a haven to me, considering the horrors at times I have to face as a veterinarian..
Please contact me at the email on my blog and I will send you an original drawing. I was going to take the break anyway...I need one. We all do. Thank you for your kind support.
I'm sorry to read this. I love your strip and I bought your book.
GoComics seems to have eliminated their comments section altogether. I am on a Mac and I have no comments using either Firefox or Safari. I tried clearing caches, logging out/in, and all the other usual things for problems like this, and nothing.
The only thing I didn't try is upgrading my account from free to paid. So either they've decided that only paid-up accounts can access comments or they're just liars. Or both.
I just tried again today. I can see comments if I'm logged-out, but as soon as I log-in again, they go away.
I found that if I disable my ad blocker, they come back. But I don't want to allow all the ads/spyware/trackers. If I tell uBlock Origin to not perform "cosmetic filtering" on the site, leaving the rest of the filters active, the comments appear again. So that's the workaround. At least for me, for the moment.
... Spoke too soon. Comments are gone again, even with the ad blocker disabled. I can only see them when logged-out. Of course, I can't post anything without logging in again.
The site is completely Borked.
They seem to work OK on Safari. But I don't use that browser.
I can only see comments on Microsoft Edge. Brave has an ad blocker. I don't get ads since I'm obviously a paid subscriber. The system has problems. Thank you for sending a report.
I got a reply this morning. They said I should turn off my ad blocker, turn off Firefox enhanced tracking, and clear caches. I did all of that. No change. I told them so.
I'm a paid subscriber, & I got nothin'. Can't see comments on any browser on any of my devices. Other readers are saying their comments are being blocked even more aggressively than before. Save your money.
Please consider that some of the cartoons only appear on GoComics; if you like them, the subscription is worth the money. You are not alone, I had another paid subscriber tell me that they can't comment anywhere, and can't even send a report. Please contact GoComics and let them know.
I was finally able to get back to the comments section on my iPad by logging out, closing the browser, restarting my iPad, reopening the browser, and logging back in. Doing only part of these steps didn’t work. I hope this helps!
The "Trending Comments" feature disappears when I am not logged in, and appears when I am logged in. I can only get the comments if I log in on Microsoft Edge. A Safari user told me that he could not see comments at all even after clearing his cache. Please send your report about Firefox to GoComics. Thank you.
Please write to GoComics if you notice changes in your comments section. They no longer support many browsers. Even Calvin and Hobbes has fewer comments today.
GoComics pushed out an update yesterday (June 29). Comments are now working in Firefox if I disable my ad blocker.
More specifically, one filter list in my (uBlock Origin) ad blocker is interfering. The "cpbl-abp-list.txt" list, available from here: https://github.com/bongochong/CombinedPrivacyBlockLists/. If I disable that filter-list, leaving the rest enabled, comments are working for me (as of yesterday's update).
If that list is active, I can see comments but user names and avatars don't appear. And if I try to post or like a comment, the system tells me I need to log-in (even though I am logged in).
I shared this with the GoComics people, so hopefully, they should have a proper fix soon.
I suspect that the owner of the cpbl-abp-list needs to update one of his filters. That list uses a lot of wildcards in order to keep the list small, and it may be a bit too aggressive here.
I’ve definitely contacted them, several times. I’ve had a problem with not being able to access the comments on GoComics at least twice, for extended periods of time. I finally got instructions from them to log out, restart my iPad, and log back in. It didn’t make up for being unable to comment, but at least I now know what to do if it happens again.
On a personal note, I’m very sorry to see you go! I hope you can get recharged and come back. I love FurBabies, and really appreciate getting to know you a little bit through here, and the comments there! But I certainly understand your situation. I don’t know if anyone has asked about your personal fur babies, but assuming you have some, I hope they will help you recharge!
That's one of 2 browsers that I know they designed the new comments section for. I can only see comments with Microsoft Edge. Please write to GoComics and let them know. Thank you
They tell you to clear your cache and history. It works for some not for others. It may depend on the OS version. Regardless if you could comment before you should be able to comment now.
I am sorry to see you go from Go Comics, but I understand your reasons. I will look for you here, on Substack, because I really do enjoy Kate and her extended fury family. Take care, Robert
I am taking the summer off. It's up to GoComics to see if the strip is back there in the fall. Right now I am not at all happy with their update, and the elimination of most of my regular commenters.
Many people have this problem. D.D. Degg, administrator of the Daily Cartoonist (a very important website about comics) is another. That is not a great roll out for someone who reviews your site.
I love FurBabies! I started reading almost from the debut! am so sorry you are putting our friends aside for I hope a while. Maybe you could consider a patreon or kickstarter like Lex Fajardo has recently set up for Kid Beowulf? Thank you again for your kind remarks.
Thank you Annie. Kid Beowulf is excellent.. I can't have a Patreon site because I am in Canada. Postage rates and the elimination of de minimus shipping make it impossible.
Take your break, and come back this fall, we will all be waiting…xoxoxo
Thank you, Maria. I hope that you are all doing well.
I will miss you, and will keep checking here for news. Your strip is one of the best. it's a wonderful antidote to the idiocy and evil in the world.
Please stay well and share what's happening.
The comments are still missing.
🤗❤️
Thank you again for your support.
Please tell GoComics and mention your browser.

Thank you for your kind words.
Please contact GoComics about the missing comments. They have to fix this.
I wrote to them, a little scoldingly.
I sent your Substack comments to the IT department.
Thank you.
I truly enjoy your work. I hope you keep creating. I think we as artists do it as much for ourselves as well as anyone else who may enjoy it.

Thank you, Alison. As I always say, art is not a career, it is a compulsion. When the inspiration for stories return, so will the FurBabies.

I did so, and it answered my comment didn't go through, that I had to write on your blog. This IS your blog, isn't it?
I apologize. You will have to visit my website; the address is there. I don't take emails from Substack.
I wrote to, I think, your mail from your page, I pressed on your portrait. I am a real dinosaur. No cell phone, no apps, only two social pages.
Please check your email
No need to apologise, madame. I shall look it up as soon as I return from work. 6º C at the moment ... BBBRRR.
Substack sent your message request a day late and I have answered it.
I hope everything turns out right. Sorry, still a bit muddled, I buried one of my dogs this morning.
I'm sorry to read this. I love your strip and I bought your book.

I'm not expecting them to be any help.
Thank you for trying. Please let them know. I can only comment using Edge.

You should not have to do any of these things. Please tell GoComics.
No, their new comment page is not supporting your browser. Please let them know.
I just did that. It seems to work on Safari. On Firefox, comments only appear when I'm not logged in. Making them pretty useless.

The GoComics techs have opened an issue with the maintainer of that list, so hopefully, they'll be able to resolve this soon: https://github.com/bongochong/CombinedPrivacyBlockLists/issues/82
Paid subscriptions don't have ads. Thank you for your update.

thank you very much, Ellen. I have had three cats and two dogs. One cat is still with me.
You can see my Ollie on my profile pic! He’s my sixth dog, adopted at Thanksgiving after losing Bucky in October. I’m allergic to cats, unfortunately.
Fortunately cartoon cats are hypoallergenic. Ollie is adorable.
I've noticed that. I have to use Safari on my phone to comment.
That's one of 2 browsers that I know they designed the new comments section for. I can only see comments with Microsoft Edge. Please write to GoComics and let them know. Thank you
LOL I can’t get the comments on Safari on my iPad!
Though I haven’t cleared my cache or browsing history…
It seems to work on my phone though.
They tell you to clear your cache and history. It works for some not for others. It may depend on the OS version. Regardless if you could comment before you should be able to comment now.
I, too, understand but I will really miss you. You were the very first really artist
that answered all my emails.
I will really miss you, Nancy. That’s a promise.
Your friend

I still answer emails. This is a break, not a finale. Thank you for your support and your fanart!
Hey, Nancy,
I am sorry to see you go from Go Comics, but I understand your reasons. I will look for you here, on Substack, because I really do enjoy Kate and her extended fury family. Take care, Robert
I’m still on GoComics, I’m just not updating the strip for a while. The problems with the comments just added another reason.
I am taking the summer off. It's up to GoComics to see if the strip is back there in the fall. Right now I am not at all happy with their update, and the elimination of most of my regular commenters.
I can't see or post on comments. This is not great roll-out for a new comments section.
I had to switch from Safari to Firefox on my iPad. They seem to work on my phone on Safari, though.
Many people have this problem. D.D. Degg, administrator of the Daily Cartoonist (a very important website about comics) is another. That is not a great roll out for someone who reviews your site.

So do we, we all love their world of peace, love and friendship! And who can compete with Sirius and Floof?
I am glad that you liked them. They are just taking the summer off. I'll see what happens after that.
