This interview appeared in a small zine, and it's appearing here as well. Check out Charles Brubaker's LAUREN IPSUM on this site! He does everything on paper!
I appreciated your insights and of course the creative background to FurBabies. Your experience in animation brings a new perspective to a daily comic strip. Thank you for sharing the interview!
Terrific blog! Your “conversation “ with Charles Brubaker is a wonderful example of how great comic strips have a life of their own as a living entity, guided by the talents of you, the creator. The beginnings of FurBabies is a terrific story in and of itself. Thanks for this inspiring insight. The on-going life of FurBabies is a very cheerful part of my life.
Great interview. I wonder did Mr. Schultz give you the pen? I hope you will continue to enjoy drawing FurBabies. I think your work method is very smart way to assemble the comic strip.
Lynn Johnston sent me the nib as a Christmas present. While most cartoonists use animation methods (reusing backgrounds and character art) few of them draw on paper. I'm an oddball. Thank you for your kind words.
thank you, Charles! and I am really impressed with your ability to get Lauren Ipsum in zines, newspapers and in self published books! you have given me many kind and useful suggestions as well. Long may you wave and I hope we can meet someday.
Lovely read. Thanks
